
What is Build-A-Bone?
Build-a-Bone is an educational program about osteopenia and osteoporosis—designed to help you live well with bone loss, prevent further progression, and support long-term bone health. Offered throughout the year in both in-person and virtual (Zoom) formats, the program blends expert medical guidance with practical, everyday strategies you can use right away.
Classes are taught by medical professionals and educators from the Ƶ of Utah Ƶ—including Vishnu Sundaresh, MD, MSCI, Professor of Medicine and Director of the Osteoporosis & Metabolic Bone Ƶ Program, a nationally recognized expert in bone health—giving you direct access to leading expertise in osteoporosis care.
Program Details
Over the course of four interactive 2-hour classes, you will:
- Learn posture and spine-sparing techniques to protect your back
- Practice safe body mechanics, weightlifting, and core strengthening exercises
- Improve balance and walking for greater confidence and independence
- Gain personalized insight into medical considerations and nutrition strategies that support bone strength
