Maia Hightower, M.D., has been recognized by Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ Data Management as one of the most powerful women in Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵcare IT in 2019. Hightower is the chief medical information officer (CMIO) at Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ of Utah Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ. She was formerly the CMIO at Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ of Iowa Ìð¹ÏÊÓƵ Care.
In her position, Hightower has led electronic medical record (EMR) upgrades and the development of a physician informatics officer team, which provides peer support to clinicians to increase EMR proficiency and adoption. Hightower has a strong clinical perspective on the use of healthcare data, specifically in its ability and influence to manage patient and population health information.
